How to Care for Makeup

Is it quite the hassle to get rid of old makeup? You’ll find that you have makeup stored in all the wrong places like: junk drawers, medicine cabinets, and travel bags. Storage plays a huge part in slowing down the aging of makeup.  Do not panic just yet. There are ways to protect your valuable makeup from losing its key functions. Where to start? What makeup to throw in the trash? Where to store makeup?

Damaged Goods: Throw out all makeup that is missing a top, expired, cracked or broken. The smell of makeup can determine if something is still in good condition. If your makeup has a weird stench, it has, more than likely, gone bad. 

Where to Store Makeup: The temperature in which makeup is stored will determine its shelf life. Makeup should be stored in a cool, dark place. Makeup should be stored in a cool, dark place. Do not store cream and liquid products in extreme heat or in direct sunlight. This too will cause makeup to lose its effectiveness. Do not store powder products in high humid areas. Keeping powdered products away from high humid areas will help protect its color. To add, It can cause the makeup to look and apply cake. The best place to store makeup is in a room temperature area.

Lip Pencils: 12 to 18 months

Mascare Shelf Life: 3 to 6 months

Powder Cosmetics: 1-2 years

Natural Products: 3 to 6 months

Eyeliner: 6 months to 1 year
